There are sweaters in all shapes, sizes, and materials. They can be worn for fashion or for warmth. In recent decades, ugly sweater contests and parties have grown in popularity around the world. Sweaters, shirts, and other garments have been hand-knitted from wool for nearly 2,000 years.
People may refer to sweaters as sweatshirts, jumpers, pullovers, raglans, tank tops, cardigans, or turtlenecks. They can be made of different materials such as wool, cotton, cashmere or synthetic materials such as polyester, polyamide, acrylic or elastin. They can even be a mix of natural and synthetic materials.
TYPES OF SWEATERS
There are many different types of ladies sweaters and materials available. Some are pullovers and others are open like cardigans. With such a wide variety, you can classify them in many different ways. You can classify them by necklines, seams, style or material. In general, there are four main categories: cardigans, turtlenecks, tunics, and pullovers. Let’s rank them by popularity.
- Cardigans A cardigan is a type of knitted sweater that is usually made of wool and has an open front. There are different types of cardigans ranging from short, long, belted and even sleeveless.
- Turtle neck. Turtle neck sweaters can be made from a variety of materials and have a high, rolled neck that covers most of the neck. Some types of turtlenecks are the classic turtleneck, mock turtleneck, turtlenecks, and funnel necks.
- Robes. A robe can also be made from a variety of different materials. The tunic style doesn’t even have to be a sweater; it can just as easily be a regular shirt. It is a very popular sweater style because it is very comfortable, elegant, long and loose.
- Pullover sweater. Pullovers represent a great category of sweaters, despite being at the bottom of the list. Turtlenecks and tunics fall under the category of pullovers as a whole. This category of sweater includes crew necks, V-necks, zip-ups, and vests.
MATERIALS FOR SOFTEST JERSEYS
Sweaters can be made from all kinds of materials. Materials are chosen based on warmth, breathability, moisture wicking, durability, and feel. They can be natural, such as wool, cashmere, cotton, or silk, as well as synthetic, such as polyester and nylon.
- Cashmere. Cashmere sweaters are one of the most expensive materials. Cashmere comes from the undercoat of cashmere goats. It is known for being light, warm and incredibly soft.
- The money. Wool is the most common material used for jumpers. Of course, there are different types of wool. Merino wool is the softest wool used to make sweaters. Have you ever had an itchy sweater? Itchy sweaters are most likely made from thick wool, such as Shetland wool.
- Cotton. Cotton is a soft, natural, plant-based fiber that is grown to make not just sweaters, but all kinds of clothing. Cotton fibers are strong, soft and affordable. Cotton is best worn in the spring or fall because it is one of the coolest materials for making sweaters.
- Bamboo Fabric. Bamboo fabric jumpers are made from a synthetic fiber that closely mimics the attributes of wool, but at a lower price. It is a very popular material and is also used to make faux fur clothing.
